Welcome on our “Living on a farm in Slovakia – Blog”. In May 2008 we have bought a smallholding in Slovakia without ever having seen it and we have moved to our farm in September 2008. Since then we have started to get acquainted with our neighbours, learn the Slovak language, renovate the house, regain our land from nature and we have actually started to farm on our land in spring 2009. On this blog you can follow our progress and setbacks.
Have fun reading it!

Below zero
Temperatures are dropping and we still have a lot of work to do before the Winter. Yesterday and this morning Arnold dug out he last 50 cm of the gap for our highly sophisticated -camp site - septic tank. A rather cold and muddy job.

These pictures remind me of an old american slang expression:
It's colder than a welldigger's ass.
