Lots of lambs and work and sunshine

With Spring in the air and lambs in the barn, we have lots of work. First hard cheeses are ripening in our cellar and we have started eating the Camembert.
Winter rest is over and we enjoy it!

Imperial potatoes

Just bought an early potato variety named Sissi in Hungary! However a short research on the internet showed that it is a German variety. I do not want to spoil my illusions - we will have imperial potatoes this spring.

Bosomy ladies

We have had a short brake with only four easy-care-goats kidding but within the next four days four sheep are expected to lamb. So baby watch duties are back on including checking at night if all goes well.

Gardening fever

Melting snow and the days growing longer give me serious gardening fever! The first onions have been planted and seeds sorted out - let the Spring begin.

Farm yard

Eight goat kids were born during the last two days and with nice sunny weather the whole group is outside with their mothers on our yard. We have a few days without sheep lambing so the goats can occupy the lamb pens at night.

Nine, ten and eleven

It is 7 - 4 in favor of the boys. But with more than half of our sheep still in lamb we hope we will get a few more girls. The first nine have moved back from the lambing pens to the group. It is running, drinking, jumping, playing all day..... till your are terrible tired and can sleep next to your mother (or serve as a pillow).

New home

Our third billy goat went to his new owner, we got a young goat with her kid for him in exchange. Quite a deal! He has a big herd of new ladies to take care of. And we are happy that he moved, his aggressive behavior wasn't appreciated especially for a guy of his size with big horns.

Farm Lazy brings lovely milk soaps on the market!

Our main goal of keeping sheep and goats is milking and making cheese. But we are always looking for ways to bring more innovative products from our wonderful animals. We have been working this winter to develop a line of fresh milk soaps.

Why putting milk in a soap bar? All milk contains natural emollients, vitamins and triglycerides that moisturize the skin. Goat milk specifically contains the reputed highly effective moisturizer capric-capryllic triglyceride. Sheep’s milk soap is the most luxurious of all because sheep’s milk is higher in butterfat, milk proteins, vitamins, and minerals than either cow or goat milk. People who use milk soap claim that it is far less drying and harsh than ordinary soap.

And what is special to 'Farm Lazy' milk soaps? We milk our own sheep and goats, which means we now exactly how the animals who produce the milk for our products are treated and also that we are using the best quality fresh milk available in our products. Our animals graze on pesticide-free pastures to make milk that is full of natural freshness - we have a personal relationship with all of our does and ewes and they are treated like part of the family!
